Big Ponderosa

Our Story

Making memories with family and friends is what vacations are all about.  We're here to help.

We are the Barsness family. We strive to make our vacation rental comfortable and memorable.  Our cabin, which we refer to as Big Ponderosa is a cedar Pan Abode log home.  It was originally built in the mid 1970s and located on Cougar Mountain in Bellevue, WA.

In 2007, we embarked on our family's largest recycling project ever. We re-located the cabin log by log to its present spot on Kahler Glen Golf and Ski Resort.  Through this enormous effort, we were able to retain much of the cabin's original rustic charm and character.

The name Big Ponderosa is inspired by the magestic ponderosa pine trees found on the east side of Washington's Cascade mountains.  Above the cabin on Nason Ridge, we are watched over by "Big Red" - a 400 year old giant ponderosa pine tree.
